Workfacta welcomes interns

Workfacta has started an internship program with two students from UniSA in November 2021. The internship aims to help students consolidate their learnings and provide them with a supportive environment to test and try their new skills while gaining professional work experience.
“As a past graduate of UniSA and now a founder of a technology company based in SA, I am delighted to be partnering with the University to support leaders of the future in gaining valuable workplace experience within the technology sector.” – says Adam Keats, CEO.
Daryl McMahon, UniSA Partner Engagement Manager, has led and organised networking events to connect UniSA student cohorts and industry partners. This year, Daryl reported that “32% of their self-placement were a direct result of the September event.”
The COVID-19 pandemic has redefined the way Workfacta think about hiring. When the company became an industry partner of UniSA’s internship program, it thought this was an opportunity to expand its research beyond traditional recruitment channels.
“There is a unique and untapped pool of talent in South Australia. Having the ability to connect directly with UniSA talents and pitch the company to these young people has been a rewarding experience, I believe, for students and the business. It made us more flexible.” – says Catherine Lethbridge, Marketing Manager.
After talking to the team at the event, Jeremy De Guzman, a Masters’ student in Management (Marketing) decided to onboard with Workfacta in early November. For 4 weeks, Jeremy had his newly acquired marketing skills tested in a fast-paced startup environment, where no two days are the same.
“I love using project tools and business management software so it would be great to see how a tech start-up works and how one is developed. Workfacta has a great community. Every day I learn something new and exciting from the team and appreciate their support throughout my internship.”
As his internship draws to a close, Jeremy has decided to pursue working part-time with the company, to consolidate his marketing experience in the SaaS sector and is looking forward to seeing his ideas implemented.
Emily Townsend, a second-year Uni student, who just started a week ago with the company, says:
“The internship networking event held by UniSA provided me with the opportunity to get in touch with the team at Workfacta. The networking event was a fantastic opportunity for students to meet face-to-face with industry partners, and I would strongly recommend to any UniSA student to attend one of their future events. After speaking with many industry professionals, I decided Workfacta would be the best fit.”
As Workfacta is preparing to reach new goals in 2022, the company hopes to expand the internship program to more universities and give students an opportunity for career progression within the start-up.
